GLBT SUPPORT FOR CITY COUNCIL

Fresno Stonewall Democrats hosted a GLBT Candidate’s Night Forum on Thursday, February 7th. All 35 candidates running for Fresno City Council, Fresno County Board of Supervisors, and the region’s State Assembly and Senate races were invited to attend. 21 Candidates accepted the Invitation. 11 Candidates showed up to respond to the questions and concerns of the GLBT Community that were presented to them from the audience, as well as those delivered by a stellar panel of community activists Including Jeff Robinson (Community Link), Phil Munoz (IDC), Hal Hynds (CCA), Sabrina Macintosh and George Loomis.

Approximately 80 people attended the forum. Upon entry to the event, each person attending was given the opportunity to register and participate in a straw ballot, held at the conclusion of the forum, to identify the Candidates that impressed them the most. 60 people registered for the straw ballot, and a total of 31 ballots were turned in at the conclusion of the event.

Each person participating in the straw ballot was given the opportunity to vote either Yes or No for each Candidate. The results of the straw ballot were tabulated by Larry Norton, an accountant and a Fresno Stonewall Democrats Club member.

Fresno Stonewall Democrats is pleased to present the following final results of the straw ballot.

The results do not constitute an endorsement by Fresno Stonewall Democrats or any other organization involved in the forum.
